The upcoming school year (2011-2012) will be my third year at St. Mark's in kindergarten. St. Mark's has the most wonderful community spirit. I walked in and felt like family. I hope you and your kindergartner feel the same way in my classroom and within our school :) A little about Ms. Engler... I attended the University of St. Thomas and lived right down the street from St. Mark's while in college. I could tell it was a fun place to learn and work based on the laughter and noise I heard coming from the playground. I believe that the classroom should be a hands-on learning environment full of fun and creativity. One of my favorite activities is to travel. I have been around the world to explore the following places: a safari in Tanzania and Kenya, visited the pyramids in Egypt, volunteered at an orphanage twice in Romania, climbed Machu Picchu in Peru, and explored the rainforest in Uganda. St. Mark's is involved with a school in Uganda that I was blessed to visit-please see the page dedicated to my trip on the site :) Traveling around the world has made my classroom a place to learn about the world outside of our school. Did you know in Tutova, Romania they use pink toilet paper? :) (Feeding Alpaca in Peru) (Orphanage in Romania) (Hiking and having fun!) |
